LCMR Guidance Office - Testing

We coordinate and offer the following tests:

1. HSPA - mandatory test taken in 11th grade.  A student must pass in order to receive a diploma from LCMR.

2. AP - test administered in May to juniors and seniors typically enrolled in the AP level courses offered at LCMR.  AP testing offers opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation's colleges and universities.

3. SAT - College Board assessment test given to assist students in applying to and being accepted into post-secondary opportunities.

4. SAT II - College Board achievement test, used to measure specific subject areas.  Please check with prospective post-secondary institutions to determine if they require any of these tests

5. ACT - Alternative to the SAT, more colleges are accepting this on the east coast.  This is the popular test on the west coast.

6.  PSAT - PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.
7. ASVAB – Although the ASVAB is widely known as a Military Assessment test used to determine strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate military placement. The program is also designed to help students learn more about themselves and the world of work, identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations, and develop an effective strategy to realize their goals.

8. ACCC JUMPSTART - Program in conjunction with ACCC to enable students to take the ACCC placement test at LCMR.  In addition, course selection will be done with counselors at the high school.

In addition, we offer various interest inventories and career tests.
